 ::: Laidback Luke Interview Holland’s beloved house music-loving homeboy, Laidback Luke, is on an international mission to rock clubs, win hearts and top charts. A producer and DJ with immense talent, tonnes of spirit and a steely determination to succeed, he has been on a worldwide search for the ultimate in dance floor energy since the mid-1990s. “Music is an amazing tool that can evoke powerful memories and emotions,” says Luke with a smile. “And I will not rest until I’ve given my best: I want to share as much music as possible with as many people as possible.” And with an incredibly impressive discography of 100+ recordings and a DJ diary that takes him from his studio near Amsterdam to clubs all over the world, it would seem that Luke is well on the way to achieve his goals... ::: Read the Interview |

As the sun set on our final day in Miami we had one last mission to fulfill. In an almost tradition-like fashion our final event was the Little Mountain Recordings showcase hosted by none other than Sander Kleinenberg. Inside the intimate Shine at the Shelborne Hotel, the LMR party is always a great place to close out Miami. For this year's edition the line-up boasted new comers Denis Ruyer, James Nidecker and headlined of course by Sander himself. Seeing as we were beyond spent after 6 days of rambunctiousness we decided to hit it up at 1am, perfect timing as the venue was already packed and just in time to catch the end of Denis Ruyer's energetic set. Shortly thereafter, with the likes of Martijn ten Velden and Armin Van Buuren in attendance, Sander took control. After a minor hiccup with the video feed, Sander was soon in full force dropping amazing beats with full video syncing to enhance the mood. Sander was definitely more on the house tip with this set, and we always feel that these are his finest compared with when he delves more on the progressive side of things. Despite the incredible music, the packed crowd, stifling temperature in the club and our well worn bodies after 6 days of pounding the Miami club scene, our bodies had enough, and reluctantly we had to call it quits. WMC 2009 was an incredible year. While the music was as ground-breaking as we had experienced in the past, the weather was amazing, catching up with friends new and old from around the globe was magical, and surviving another conference was satisfying. And to think, it's only 12 more months till we get to do it all over again!
