 ::: Laidback Luke Interview Holland’s beloved house music-loving homeboy, Laidback Luke, is on an international mission to rock clubs, win hearts and top charts. A producer and DJ with immense talent, tonnes of spirit and a steely determination to succeed, he has been on a worldwide search for the ultimate in dance floor energy since the mid-1990s. “Music is an amazing tool that can evoke powerful memories and emotions,” says Luke with a smile. “And I will not rest until I’ve given my best: I want to share as much music as possible with as many people as possible.” And with an incredibly impressive discography of 100+ recordings and a DJ diary that takes him from his studio near Amsterdam to clubs all over the world, it would seem that Luke is well on the way to achieve his goals... ::: Read the Interview |

For day 2 we definitely needed to take advantage of the bright sunshine and warm weather, so it was off to the Shelborne Hotel to kick it poolside for the DJ Mag Opening Pool Party. Featuring an allstar lineup including heavyweights David Guetta, Steve Lawler, DJ Dan, Josh Wink, Dubfire, James Zabiela, and many more. Thanks to our main man Dennis Wheeler, we were able to quickly bypass the HUGE lineup to get in. Already by 3pm, the pool inside and out was packed to the brim. Full of beautiful barely-clad bodies the place was jumping. International heavyweight and top ranked house don David Guetta had just taken control. Weaving his classic blend of big room house, Guetta elevated the crowd to mass hysteria culminating in him dropping his fresh new single with Kelly Rowland on vocals. While the vocal hook was amazing and the fact that this is another step in house music's move to the mainstream in North America, we were a little disappointed in the more trance tones of the instrumental, and it left us hopefully that a slew of proper house versions are imminent. Following Mr. Guetta's stellar set was none other than the tribal guru Steve Lawler. Bringing his traditional style of heavy drums and deep rhythms, Lawler kept the packed house a jumpin.
